What’s most exciting is what happens on the canvas as I search for the delicate balance between order and chaos.
Music is my greatest source of inspiration and sets the tone of my work for the day. I begin each painting by splashing rich vibrant jewel tones of color with globs of glaze in layers next to elements of the printed word, rare fabrics from Africa, cardboard and found objects. I love the way the color, glaze, rich texture and elements of the printed word translate the emotion I feel as I create the story in the heart and soul of each face, figure and abstract. The stories that come to life as I paint them are like the veils of awareness that transcend time.
