Autumn

Autumn

At no other time (than autumn) does the earth let itself be inhaled in one smell, the ripe earth; in a smell that is in no way inferior to the smell of the sea, bitter where it borders on taste, and more honeysweet where you feel it touching the first sounds.  Containing depth within itself, darkness, something of the grave almost.

Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters on Cezanne

Catherine Giglio

Catherine Giglio is a mother, painter, gardener and dog lover from Fort Collins, Colorado. She paints from the perspective of connection, connection to one another and the landscapes we call home.

“Most often, my paintings, grounded in color theory, evolve into abstract landscapes, allowing me to connect with the living canvas I imagine we all share.  My paintings attempt to express, through color, light and energy on the canvas, those connections we make with each other.

Textures and brushstrokes create recognizable images, but those forms are often ethereal, smoke, clouds or distant mountain ranges. As in human relationships we might see or feel differently each time we look, I have found that the value of painting is not only in the process, but also in the relationships with those who see the works.

I paint to make connections with my journey. I paint to make connections with others.”
